Working with the Regional Plan Association and Municipal Arts Society, Studio 2263 designed and conducted a retrospective geospatial analysis to examine development in New York City compared to assumptions made by the New York City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR) process. With the resulting analysis, we built an interactive web tool where users follow the CEQR process with current city data, allowing them to explore the outcomes of development occurring under varied circumstances around the city. Usability and clarity were high priorities for this complex content, resulting in a user-centered web tool driven by maps and data visualizations that invite exploration at multiple scales and levels of granularity.
